Our Story
Familyof5Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated in giving back to community of Rochdale Village in Jamaica Queens where we were raised. Seeing as Rochdale Village is comprised of 5 circles, we incorporated this in our name and are abided by the the Old African Proverb: “It Takes a Village” in our continued work in Rochdale Village & surrounding areas. We look at our movement as a “Village” assisting in the growth & betterment of our neighborhood and its residents.
Principals
ROYAL HUBBARD
My name is Royal Hubbard. I was born in Rochdale Village, located in Southeast Queens. I worked for Rochdale Village for 26 years, moving up the ladder to Maintenance Supervisor/Group Manager. I’ve always had a deep compassion for serving my community. 20 years ago, a few friends and I put together a Father’s Day BBQ, offering seafood, burgers, and music, all for free at Valley Stream State Park. Then the pandemic hit the world and everything was at a standstill. Through that chaos birthed the Family of Five Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization.
